In the afternoon of March 28, Professor Akira Fujishima, an internationally renowned photochemistry scientist and foreign academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, led a delegation to Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Technology (Huayi Group Central Research Institute) to carry out technical exchanges. Mr. Shang Zhaocong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, General Manager and President of the Institute, accompanied Mr. Fujishima and his delegation to visit the exhibition hall of the Institute's scientific and technological achievements as well as the GLP laboratory for environmental safety evaluation, and introduced in detail the technical capabilities and scientific and technological achievements in innovative fields such as new materials, new energy and new environmental protection.
During the seminar, Mr. Fujishima expressed his appreciation for the technical achievements of Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Technology. He expressed that both sides focus on applied research in new energy, new environmental protection and other fields and have a broad scope for cooperation. He hoped that both sides would strengthen technical cooperation and jointly promote the large-scale application of new technologies and research results to contribute to solving the world energy crisis and environmental pollution problems.
During the exchange, Akira Fujishima gave a presentation entitled How to move towards a clean world: photocatalysis and the carbon cycle, introducing the research progress of photocatalysis, as well as the current status and prospects of photocatalytic technology applications in water photolysis, anti-bacterial and deodorisation, anti-pollution and anti-mould, air purification, wastewater purification and photoreduction of carbon dioxide. The two sides exchanged views on air purification, water resource treatment, soil treatment, catalytic technology, polymer decomposition and carbon dioxide resource utilization.
Shang Zhaocong expressed his admiration for the outstanding achievements of academician Akira Fujishima and his team in the field of photocatalysis. He pointed out that photocatalysis technology is the leading edge of green, low-carbon and environmental protection technology, and has good application prospects in environmental treatment and clean energy, and as an applied research institute, Shanghai Research Institute of Chemical Industry has been cultivating core technologies in new materials, new energy and new environmental protection for many years. He hopes that both sides will deepen technical exchanges and strengthen cooperation, and jointly break through technical problems in the fields of environmental treatment and clean energy.
